Calendar of Events
Saturday, April 12 – 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Virginia’s Civil War and Emancipation Day
commemoration is Saturday April 12th. In 2011, the
General Organization accepted the invitation to
participate. We have accepted that invitation again
this year. The memorial Building will be open to the
public with tours beginning at 10:00 a.m. and the
last tour beginning at 4:00 p.m.
In the past three years, we have had about 400
visitors each year. All have been amazed with the
beauty of the building and the work the Daughters
do. UDC ladies are tour guides with additional
hostesses available in each room and the north and
south halls to answer questions and to make sure
everything remains safe and secure. The Men’s
Advisory Board is also a welcome presence.
Most of the volunteers were UDC Virginia Division
ladies with a few from other divisions. Some ladies
from other division have made the trip back to each
year to be a part of this event and to show our UDC
home to the public. YOUR HELP IS NEEDED.
If you would like to be a part of the 4th Annual
Open House on Saturday, April 12th, 2014, please
contact Barbara Joyner (email@example.com ).
There will be a “script” for each tour guide so we
can keep to the schedule for the day.
